Hartmut’s journey through the polymer value chain began in the late 1990s, after earning a PhD in Polymer Chemistry from the Institute for Macromolecular Chemistry in Freiburg, Germany. This strong scientific foundation laid the groundwork for his early roles at Targor/Basell, where he specialized in Ziegler-Natta and Metallocene Polypropylene — two key areas in polymer innovation.
He further honed his technical and product development expertise at Lummus Novolen Technology and Borealis, taking on leadership roles in technology licensing and product development. His ability to bridge R&D and commercial deployment became a defining theme in his career.
From 2012 to 2021, Hartmut held various senior roles at Clariant, including Global Technical Segment Manager and Business Development Manager, where he contributed significantly to market expansion and technical marketing strategies in specialty chemicals and polymer additives.
A Master of Science in Innovation Management from LIMAK Austrian Business School further enhanced his strategic acumen, empowering him to lead complex, multi-market business units with an innovation-first mindset.
