From Antwerp to Africa: Roblain Namegni’s Mission to Revolutionize Recycling in Cameroon

With a background in Business Administration from the University of Antwerp and a professional start in process engineering at Deloitte, Roblain Namegni had all the tools to carve out a successful career in global corporate circles. But it was his drive to make a meaningful ecological and social impact that led him down a different path—one that would take him back to his roots in Cameroon.

Roblain’s early work with industry leaders like Reynaers Aluminium and Manuchar exposed him to the intricacies of supply chains and production lines across South America and Africa. His experience in lean production, coupled with a certification in business process management, laid the groundwork for what would become his life’s mission: to establish a circular economy model in Africa’s plastics industry.

In 2016, along with co-founder Thomas Poelmans, Roblain launched NAMé Recycling, a Belgian-Cameroonian venture with a powerful vision—creating ecological, social, and economic value from plastic waste. Headquartered in the coastal city of Limbe, just 80 kilometers from Douala, the company rapidly expanded its reach through a nationwide network of private collectors, municipalities, and organizations.

NAMé Recycling not only focuses on collecting and processing plastic waste—it also invests in sorting, cleaning, and transforming materials for high-quality recycling. By doing so, the company closes the loop on plastic waste in a country where waste management is often under-resourced. This integrated approach has made NAMé Recycling a trailblazer in sustainable development across the region.

Roblain’s leadership exemplifies how innovation, business acumen, and a passion for sustainability can drive systemic change. His work is a testament to what is possible when entrepreneurship is combined with purpose.
