Harbinder Singh is a Singaporean, based between Singapore and Dubai, with over 35 yearsโ experience in leading and growing environmental services businesses in complex and competitive B2B and B2G environments in 15 countries in developing and developed regions. He has held senior leadership roles in publicly listed, privately owned, and government entities.
Some of the companies he has worked with are Waste Management Inc, Suez, CGEA (now Veolia), Sembcorp, SWM, Remondis, and Transpacific Industries/Cleanaway. Some of the roles he has held in the Middle East include Managing Director of Averda โ the regionโs largest private sector environmental services company, General Manager of AIMS โ the UAEโs largest government-owned integrated environmental services company, and Managing Director (Waste Management) of Beeโah โ the regionโs largest PPP environmental services company.
Harbinderโs companies have won numerous awards, and he has pioneered many circular economy initiatives in his career. For example, in the UAE, he launched the regionโs first zero-waste hotel, first municipal wastewater-to-industrial waste recycling facility, largest e-waste recycling facility in the region, and the regionโs first alternative fuel operations, among others. His latest venture is YES Full Circle (YFC), which is on track to become the worldโs first social enterprise that combines climate change action and addresses income inequality. Since its formation in 2020, YFC has contributed over AED 2.5 million to social impact programs, including the award-winning Ocean Story.
Harbinder has an LLB (Hons) from the University of Manchester, UK, and an MBA from the University of Chicago, US. He has also been a certified Chief Sustainability Officer since 2017. Over the years, Harbinder has personally received many awards, the latest of which is the 2021โ2022 Personality of the Year (Recycling) by MEWAR (Middle East Waste and Recycling Industry Awards) in Dubai.
