Priya’s Purpose-Driven Journey: Pioneering Sustainability and Inclusion in the Region

In an age where the corporate world is increasingly expected to lead with purpose, Priya has emerged as a powerful example of how communication and sustainability can intersect to drive meaningful change. Her journey from Corporate Communication Manager at Unilever in 2008 to becoming a pivotal sustainability and corporate affairs leader across multiple regions is a testament to both her vision and values.

With a career spanning over 17 years, Priya has worn many hats — heading communications across the MENA region, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus, before being appointed Head of Sustainability for Unilever MENA in 2019. In 2020, she added External and Corporate Affairs for MENA to her expanding portfolio, further positioning herself at the forefront of Unilever’s purpose-driven agenda.

A Champion of Collaboration and Representation

Priya’s leadership philosophy is rooted in one word: partnerships. She believes that meaningful, long-term change is only possible when sectors and stakeholders unite behind a shared vision.

In 2016, she founded the Advertising Business Group (ABG) — now the region’s largest advertising and marketing self-regulatory body. Her foresight in promoting ethical advertising and media practices placed her on the ABG Board through 2025.

But it didn’t stop there. In 2020, she launched the UAE Chapter of the Unstereotype Alliance, in partnership with UN Women. This platform works to eliminate harmful gender-based stereotypes in media and advertising, a mission that earned her the title of ‘Marketing Gamechanger 2020’ by Campaign Magazine.

Steering the Circular Economy Forward

Priya’s commitment to sustainability has extended far beyond corporate walls. As the first elected Chair of the Circular Packaging Association in 2022, she has played a leading role in advocating for packaging innovation and waste reduction across the region. Her board membership at the Multinational Companies Business Group (MCBG) further demonstrates her strategic influence in shaping responsible industry policies.

She brought her expertise to the global stage as well, serving as a jury member for the Sustainable Development Goals Lions (SDG) at the 2022 Cannes Lions Festival — reinforcing her role as a global voice for sustainable innovation.

The Power of Communication with Purpose

A Master’s in Business and an Accredited Business Communicator (ABC), Priya exemplifies how strong storytelling, stakeholder engagement, and authenticity can not only build brands but inspire transformation. Based in Dubai, she continues to be a mentor, change-agent, and champion of sustainability-led growth in the region.
