When Sebastian Krell took over as Managing Director of SK Industriemodell GmbH in 2014, he brought with him not only a strong foundation in mechanical engineering and IT consulting but also a transformative vision. A graduate of RWTH Aachen University with a diploma in mechanical engineering focused on manufacturing technology, Sebastian understood the critical role that cutting-edge R&D plays in maintaining a competitive edge in the plastics industry. Under his leadership, SK Industriemodell launched the now-celebrated Print & Inject technology—an ingenious process that uses 3D-printed mold inserts to enable the injection molding of serial materials. This revolutionary method, born out of collaboration with RWTH Aachen, allows for the fast and efficient creation of complex prototypes and limited production series using reusable tools.
This innovation not only positioned the company as a forward-thinking player but also earned it several honors. SK Industriemodell was nominated for the Founders Award in both the Aachen business region (2014) and North Rhine-Westphalia (2016).
