Toni Kienberger is an entrepreneur, innovator, and Founder & CEO of Ocean Material®, a Hong Kong–based global supply chain program for certified materials from recycled fishing nets, ocean-bound plastics, and seaweed – powered by award-winning upcycling technology & purpose.

Starting in 2018 with hands-on beach and river clean-ups in Southeast Asia, Ocean Material® has grown into a trusted partner for global brands, delivering traceable, high-quality materials while advancing circular economy solutions. In 2024, the company expanded with a Hamburg office to strengthen its European presence.

Beyond its certified materials program, Ocean Material® is pioneering low-energy processing technology that turns low-value mixed plastics into lightweight, eco-friendly structural panels – replacing timber in logistics and manufacturing, and unlocking new economic opportunities for coastal communities.

Toni’s leadership combines over a decade of strategic sustainability experience with a passion for ocean conservation, reflected in nearly 600 non-profit workshops for universities, schools, and communities across Asia. An avid surfer and diver, he has witnessed marine pollution first-hand, fueling his mission to redefine waste as a valuable resource. As a proud father of three, his vision is clear – to build a cleaner, more resilient planet for the generations to come.
